GroFin

Building Better Businesses

GroFin is an African business development and finance company headquartered in Kenya. GroFin provides business capital and support to small and medium enterprises (SMEs). These enterprises are in emerging markets that are currently underserved by typical banking entities. This is primarily because SMEs typically don’t have business skills, track record, or collateral that typical banks look for when lending. GroFin invests in enterprises in South Africa, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Nigeria, and Oman.

GroFin manages various funds from a variety of investors like banks and multi-nationals. Grants from the Shell Foundation help GroFin push into new markets and spread the successful GroFin business model. During execution of that business model, GroFin works directly and closely with capital recipients to build better businesses. This work strengthens the communities while giving investors better returns on investment, because the enterprises do better with training and support.

Entities like GroFin aid the community by giving chances to people with potentially great business ideas, but no way to get started. It is a homegrown African solution for African problems.

A big thanks to our South African readers for chiming in on this company.

Cheers!
