Who should the CIO report to?

In prior articles you have heard me comment that for CIOs to be truly effective, they need to report to the CEO not some other “C” level executive. I promised you data to either support or refute this opinion. We have collected reams of data (much of it eye opening) but we are reaching out to you for help in the final stretch. We have 2 requests:

1) Let us know:

  1. if the CIO or head of information technology of your company reports to the CEO or some other “C” level executive,
  2. the name of your company and
  3. if it is private or public

Half of you readers are from outside the US so we want to hear from you as well. Just indicate the country and industry of your company as well.

2) My researchers have reached out as well to the following 10 companies who made the Best Places to Work in IT List:

But we only heard back from a couple of them.

If you have the information we seek, please send it to us.
We will be happy to give you acknowledgment in the article as a contributor.

Please send all info via email to rick@thereblogging.com and include in the subject line: Who does the CIO report to?

Thank you in advance for your support.

Cheers!

Rick
