Can Apple’s “Sound Good” do even Better?

On my recent post of October 13th, 2006 I reported on Apples new Sound Good. Does Good program. Apple just released a RED iPod and will be donating $10 to RED tm http://www.joinred.com/ for each one sold.  I did some rough numbers and reported that potentially they could be donating about $14 Million after one year.

Well my numbers were way off. Apple once again blew the doors off of their earnings estimates. According to preliminary numbers released today, Apple sold over 39 Million iPods in the last 12 months and they added an additional $11 billion dollars in revenue. Now that’s what I call doing well.

So let’s redo the numbers. Assume once again that sales would not increase (yeah sure) and only 10% of iPods sold would be the red ones. That’s roughly 4 million iPods at $10 a piece = $40 Million going to a good cause. I actually believe the numbers will be 30% higher but I would love to hear what you think. Feel free to send in your comments.

And as promised I will continue to track this story and report on the bottom line. That is the Triple Bottom Line.
