Photovoltaic Market Growing
The PV market installation grew by 19% in 2006 worldwide over 2005, hitting a record 1,744 megawatts (MW). 55% of the world market is in Germany’s grid connect PV market which produces 960 MW annually. The Spanish market went up a whopping 200%, while the U.S. market increased a modest 33% in comparison.
The international solar market produced 2,204 MW of energy. The global market earned about $10.6 billion in 2006.
PV equipment prices were up the first half of 2006, but dropped later in the year due to increases in orders.
