The Real Scandal at Citi

When the Todd Thomson story broke on January 22, 2007 everyone in the media chose to smear mud and share in the gossip but in my post it seemed that I was the only dissenting voice out there. The scandal just did not make sense. Now some of the media is finally beginning to realize the same.

Hitting today’s newsstand is a in-depth story by Business Week regarding the firing and why it just does not make sense. Click here to read more.

Just to make it clear to everyone, I respect Chuck Prince as well and I believe that he is genuine about his vision but there is a big disconnect between the vision and the authenticity of the leadership. Plus let’s give him his due, the guy is surrounded by hundreds of gremlins. Never mind putting the employees first, let alone the shareholders. He is surrounded by people who just, who just, who just... oh well suck! are out for themselves.

If you want to understand what kind of a leader it would take to turn around Citigroup, listen to my last podcast interview of Lance Secretan. A former fortune 500 CEO who helped build the largest corporation in the world. Since then, as a turnaround expert and corporate change agent he has helped 11 failing companies, become 11 of Fortune’s most admired companies. Click here to listen to the full interview.
