No it is not an April fools joke. I was wondering why I saw kids today in Central Park playing with energy efficient light bulbs but then I learned that Home Depot was giving away over 1,000,000 of them in honor of Earth Day.

 

According to their website, they claim that by doing so will help eliminate over 198 million lbs of CO2 emission. The equivalent of removing 70,000 cars off the road.
