Once again one of our readers has forwarded us a wonderful article. This time from that bastion of financial news, The Wall Street Journal. Ron Lieber has written an excellent article that explores what options are out there in the world of micro-finance and peer-to-loans. Once again Kiva.org is given as an example along with other sites such as Prosper.com, that is open to pretty much to anyone with a credit score. Ron has put together an informative chart that depicts concisely the various options.
As a side note, Kiva.org was featured this week on PBS Frontline. (If you get a chance to see it let us know what you think.) As a result there was an avalanche of online requests that have brought their servers down. As of this post they were still trying to get back online. I heard that one of the people from Uganda I am financing was shown on the episode. Looks like micro-finance is here to stay and that is a good thing.
